Fun Friday...

Now that Drake Men is up I have been busy with orders, advertising, PR, and learning how to run a business. The last two days have been hectic, crazy, unexpected events and great at the same time. I have talked about before that for so long I didn't know what I was going to do with my life. Who I was going to be or what career I would have. Looking back on those times it seems silly of me how much I stressed myself out trying to find an answer. Friends and family would always ask "what are you doing to do when you grow up?" I mean we all get asked that question and more often than not I would come up with a satisfying answer on the spot. It may have sounded good but I still didn't really know the answer to that question.

In no way am I saying that I know the right answer because I do believe that the correct response to that isn't always an answer that includes a career/job. When Drake Men launched yesterday it was a crazy day. I had started my part-time job of watching my niece while her mom (a nurse) works her 12 hour shift and dad (Fireman) working his 24 hour shift. Trying to get on a schedule where I worked when she slept was a little tricky for the simple fact that not every time she sleeps I can get a full hour in; sometimes it was 20-30 min. I made it work and everything that needed to get done did.

When it was play time I would think in the back of my head how much I enjoyed being with her. The question, that family always asks, was popping up in the back of my mind. At one point near the end of the day I finally came up with a great answer that covers all areas of life. What I want to do when I 'grow up' is to be a business owner who can still be a wife and mother. Be able to have a successful career and still juggle daily life with family and friends. A person that is successful in every aspect of life. That is what I want to be when I grow up. I think that's a pretty good answer!

On a little lighter note it also got me thinking about houses...as usual! I can't stop thinking about going back home to Sugar Land, TX. I LOVE living in the heart of Houston but with that comes high property taxes and even higher home prices. Thinking about moving back to Sugar Land used to bother me because I enjoy the 'hustle and bustle' of the area I live in. It reminds me of NYC a little. Everyone has places to go, people to see, and money to make. Whereas Sugar Land has become a little bit more metropolitan and not so much suburbia. Last week I was in the area of Sugar Land called Lake Pointe. It has really developed over the last year with urban three-story town homes, businesses, shops, and restaurants. There is one area with these gorgeous little (25 homes maybe) pockets of three-story town homes. Each one has a different look...there is an area with brownstone features, another with the modern look, and then there are the free standing Villa's.

A look at how they are making these town homes more family friendly...so much larger than the ones near us!
