Lazy, Relaxing, and Working Weekend...
I wish I could be sitting here this morning while I am sipping my coffee and working. That's right I said working! This is what happens when you are so close to finishing you tend to work 24/7. I am realizing what the end product is looking like which is making me so excited it really isn't bothering me that it is a holiday weekend I am hanging out at our dining room table returning emails and paying people. Ha!
Later on this afternoon I am so excited because I get to babysit my 2 month old niece! I haven't seen her in two weeks and I am totally having with drawls. She is so adorable and is changing every time I see her. Now she can grab her toys, roll over, and laugh!
So adorable! Well, have a Happy Memorial Weekend!

West U House...
This morning I went a little out of my price range when looking for homes for us...over by about $400,000. Ha! I wasn't really finding anything that we would like or if I did it wasn't in a great location. Lately, I have really liked the idea of the hubs and I purchasing a home well under our budget and renovating it the way we would want it. Sounds like a fantastic idea right?! Doing something like this would probably cost us a good chunk of money but in the area we live or the ones we would like to live in this would result in some huge profit for us. That I like.
The hubs and I have been proven to be very handy anyway. Something we found out about a year ago when we started gutting our closet. We work really well together as a team too...I do more of the design layout and he figures out how to make it happen but we do all the cutting, staining, and/or painting, and drilling together. Perfect team!
This morning I came across this house in the West U(niveristy) area of Houston. It is the next best area to live in if you want a mix of suburbia and city life. There are plenty of small boutiques, bars, restaurants’, and cafes to choose from and in the middle of the cutest homes! Many of them are small bungalow's or craftsman style homes that have been redone to look more modern. This house is SO adorable on the outside but you walk through the door into a clean, sophisticated, museum vibe. Plus, the backyard is a nice size for Houston homes in this area and it comes with the most beautiful pool and hot tub! Like I said...I went over our budget but for this house I would find some way to come up with $675K.
For the location, having 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, a walk-in laundry room, plus an office area, two living spaces, and a backyard like this is actually a steal at this price. I am going to have to save every dollar for a couple years to afford this place. But dreaming is always free!

Such cute exterior!
Love the fireplace!
The open floor plan is what got me hooked.
Simple but modern dining room
This would be such an upgrade to the kitchen we have now!
I have always wanted a family room connected to the kitchen
Master bedroom is a little small but having two walk-in closets and the bathroom
made me more comfortable!
Beautiful bathroom!
An actually laundry room for the hubs and I...really me would be nice :)
Having a little nook for an office would be heaven!
And this is where we would spend most of our time...especially in the summer!

Cause For Celebration!
This morning the hubs got some fantastic news...he passed his fourth and final exam to become a CPA! Not only am I ecstatic for him becoming a Certified Public Accountant but he passed the fourth exam with a 94! I guess after studying for the first three exams and passing them he was really eager to get the last one over with, for good. Ha! Saying I am proud of him isn't even enough. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be able to be doing Drake Men. Even before he met me, he was always hungry for more out of life. Always pushing himself to the limit. I would like to say that my motivation is just a part of my personality but honestly he has a lot to do with that. Watching him over the years has made me want to be better. For that, I can't thank him enough.
You can only imagine when there is a cause for celebration we all naturally want to go somewhere and do something for the occasion. Well this morning I found the perfect way and the only way I know he truly wants to celebrate...
First off, who wouldn't want to celebrate like that! I remember when he first thought about taking the CPA exam he researched all over the Internet about it. What he found was that the CPA exam is the hardest, most difficult exam(s) to pass. There are four separate exams and you must pass all of them to get certified. Apparently, the CPA exam is harder than the BAR. Now you know why we are SO happy! He studied for countless hours, sleeping for-maybe-4 hours a day, and not eating right gave him so much stress he even got sick because of it. Doesn't that photo look amazing now? He would love to sit somewhere on a beach and not do one thing and I would have to agree.

Food-licious
I stumbled upon Gastro Girl with her tag line of "Saving the world one bite at a time". I personally love that mentality! I have found through but years of trying to learn new recipes that I hate shopping through the Internet. They are so many websites and so many recipes. I generally love to look at photos of tasty treats and this blog has both! She finds food images/recipes that she enjoys and posts them on her Tumblr page. The best part about it is that you can just search all the images until you find some that look to die for and then follow the link that she sets up for you/us. I have found several things that I just cannot wait to try!
My brother-in-law is coming over for dinner tomorrow night and I am thinking that I may try a few things on him. Now it is time for me to narrow down my options...its so difficult because everything looks so yummy! Here are a few that got my attention...the grilled cheese is a must try for me!

I have made it back from my amazing trip to NYC! It was so much fun seeing my dear friend, of more than 10 years, and her family. Most of my teenage years was spent with them in their house. I traveled all over Texas with them as well as to Hong Kong...which I wanting to go back so badly! I learned a lot from each of them. From Daddy Chiu it was all about the makes and models of cars. Mama Chiu was fashion, fashion, food, and how to karaoke. Ha! Sister Chiu was basically everything. Her being a year older we just learned everything at the same time. Whether it was fashion, driving, or having boyfriends we did it all together. Bother Chiu was all about having a little brother. My sister and I always wanted a brother, older or younger didn't matter. LOL.
After moving to Nebraska several years ago I haven't seen them much at all. Once a year, maybe, but we keep in contact with the wonders of social media and technology. You can only imagine how spending three days with them wasn’t enough but we all managed. Shopping, eating, and talking for hours’ is what we have always been good at and we did a lot of that. Mama Chiu and I are even more excited because Sister Chiu will be going onto London to work for Alexander McQueen which means...girl’s trip to London! Mama Chiu and I realized on the last day that we were so sad about leaving we came up with the idea of heading to London early fall. Of course, I can't so no to that! Great food, scenery, shopping, and amazing company...sign me up!
