Loving Spring {Francesca's}

Francesca's if found all through out Houston, as well as many other cities. It is the cutest boutique that I find myself shopping in for a lot longer than I had planned. Once a month I do the occasional 'sweep'. Go in and try to find an outfit that 'calls' to me. I usually end up rummaging through all of there cute items!

Last weekend was my first time in there since there Spring items and been out. While purchasing a red summer dress and cute 1960's Ray-Ban styled sunglasses I thought about taking a look out online and bringing some of my favorites to you guys. Here they are...a few apparel, accessories, and nick knacks to get me through the summer!

Come join in on the fun over here at Francesca's!

Baby Pepper's Nursery...

My sister and her hubs have welcomed their first child into the world and I must say that she is so beautiful! I have gotten the pleasure of becoming an Aunt for the third time and I love it. Not being biased but my two nieces and nephews are the cutest kids ever!

I have realized that I did not post any photos of baby pepper's-my BIL's last name is Culpepper and baby pepper just fits as a nick name-nursery. One of our family secrets that we keep is that myself, my sister, and my mother are interior designers...of our homes of course. I believe we get this from our mother and we love that we have this talent. My sister didn't want to find out the sex of the baby so we decided to do a nursery that will fit either gender. If I wasn't an adult I would love to move into this room!

They went with a color pallet of sky blue, orange, green, white, and pops of color. It turned out amazing...here's a little look!

It's all in the details...

Change Is Happening...

When I started this blog about six months ago I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to say and what the content would be about. I have learned that nothing in life ever really stays the same and during the last couple of weeks many things in my life have been changing. We will be adding a little niece or nephew in the next couple of days, the hubs and I have found a new relationship with Him and has renewed our connection with one another, Drake Men has had a few obstacles that I didn't see coming, and I think the biggest thing is having a feeling of what "settling" down means.

Yes, I am married and when I tell my friends I am getting the 'settling down' feeling they give me a perplexed look. After some talks with my husband (and myself) I am learning more about it. This time in my life has really opened my eyes up to so many other things. Most of our friends have a little one or are pregnant, my cousins are all going off to college, getting married, and having babies themselves. I have taken a step back to look at their lives and kind evaluate mine.

I have realized that what I want out of my life is, in the sense, traditional. Great family, good job, loving husband, strong Faith, and be able to give my kids more than what I had. Sounds traditional but I feel that most of my life-the last few years-have really been nontraditional. I didn't do things in the order they were supposed to be done. I was one of the first that moved in with a boyfriend (the hubs) that I wasn't engaged too then on top of that buy a house with him before we even were planning a wedding.

A few weeks ago I was having the hardest time sleeping. I was tired but I couldn't fall asleep or if I did drift off I would suddenly wake up and then stay up until the early morning. My husband, naturally, was concerned but I couldn't give him a reason for why it was happening. During the end of the week one night trying to go to sleep I started contemplating why this could be happening. A light bulb went off in my head. After thinking about all the things I just wrote I realized that the biggest thing was that I was nervous about how I am living my life. Wondering if this was the path I was supposed to follow.

I soon came to terms with the fact that I was living my life by my rules and on my terms. Designing my own life. When I said those words it came to me that this was the reason for the restless nights, not being inspired when I blog, and why I was so worried about our future. My husband is so great and told me that it was okay for us to live our life different from our friends and family. That I shouldn't hold my life up to what others are doing. We all have different dreams and aspirations. Our lives will be different because of those things.

Having said all of this that is why I titled "Change is happening". It is in my life and it will be on this blog. I am changing almost everything. The name will be changed, the layout, the feel, and the content. Of course, I will keep somethings like Thursdays Real Estate posts! I will be writing more about my life and the journey I am about to take with Drake Men, becoming a mother, continuing to try and be the best Aunt, a great friend, and a great wife all while doing it on my terms. I was one of the biggest advocates of the "5 year plan". The hubs and I were going to wait five years to try for a little one but nesting feeling as popped it's head in over the last couple of weeks. We will be the couple living in a three-story (fingers crossed) town home raising a kid, running a business, and trying to figure out how to live life the way we want to. It's going to be crazy, fun, chaotic, and I am sure at times incredibly stressful but I also know that it will be how the hubs and I want it. It's a good thing that here in Houston they have 3 story town homes out in the suburbs!

These Inslee photos may not fit the post but I just love all these photos!

Quote of the Week!

My husband and I have had many ups and downs in our relationship but I can say that I am glad I stuck around. We have a beautiful relationship and I wouldn't have changed any of it for the world. We had to go what we went through to be who and how we are today.

Enough said.

Weekend View...

This weekend gave us gorgeous weather, the opening of a new Apple store {in Houston}, the opportunity to drink green beer, and spending quality time with my husband while shopping! It has been one of the best weekends by far.

While the hubs and I hit up Highland Village we stopped at a few of my favorite stores like Francesca's and Restoration Hardware. Besides the opening of the Apple store, Restoration Hardware built this beautiful three story, 25,000 sq. ft. mega-shop with 14-ft gates in the entrance. The collections are amazing and with the store being-huge-I thought it would be overwhelming but my husband and I dove right in and started discussing pieces we would love to have-day dreaming of course.

Walking up to a place that looks like this, though, you just have to go in and snoop around...

Our favorite of all the bedrooms!

 Chandelier...yes please.

After picking up a few things from Crate and Barrel it was off to have a dinner date and drink some green beer. All in all in was a fabulous weekend!

Charming Bungalow...

Thursday Real Estate time! This lovely home that I am showing today is 3bdrm/2 bath and is a 1920's bungalow that has been renovated. Despite being, extensively, renovated the character of the house still remains. Charming, warm, and inviting are the three things that came to mind when I came across this place.

The hubs and I go back and forth on the style of our next home will be. I would love to have something charming and with loads of character but generally those are hard to come by under $500K. My husband on the other hand would love to incorporate what I want in a modern three-story town home. Ha! I would love to see one of those.

Over the next year I am sure there will be many, many more conversations in this department but I would like to think that with my persuasiveness I could sway him into a home like this. Perfect starter home and as long as it has a spare bedroom where I can put my office I am good to go!

Closet Project...

As I said this morning, today I was going to spend the majority of it in our closet changing out my wardrobe. I expected it to maybe take an hour-tops. Well, almost four hours later I am finally finished! I didn't have time to hang the outfit photos but after what I went through organizing I was a pretty tired.

The hubs and I have been, slowly, renovated our closet over the last year. We originally had the cheap, white racks and with the closet being so narrow we had about a foot to walk through once all of our clothes were hung. It made it difficult for us to be in there at the same time. Taking turns walking in was what motivated us to renovate! Last summer we pulled everything out, repainted (used to be a dark yellow color from the previous owner) and then we put in custom shelving from Lowe's. Our custom shelves were designed and completed by my husband...he's pretty awesome like that!

We just have a few things left to do...new crown molding, hard wood floors, a few smaller shelves to hang on the empty wall, and a nice-not to feminine-chandelier. I can't wait to see the completed look! Our unit will be one of the very few that actually has a custom closet!

Change of Season...

The forecast shows for the next week a steady stream of 80 degree days. The good portion of my day today will be spent in my closet. Fiddling through things to get rid of, keep, or donate. I will be changing out my Winter clothes to my Summer wardrobe!

I started a little bit of this yesterday when it was too hot to wear any of the clothes I had out. I climbed up the ladder to the top shelf and pulled down one of the trunks. It was like looking at a whole new wardrobe. Ha! Shorts, skirts, dresses that I hadn't seen since October. It made me so excited for today's project to come.

I am hoping that in between the changing of the season's wardrobes I can fit some decor in there. Walking into your closet should give you a happy feeling, a feeling of inspiration of the future outfits to come. I have had the idea for a while to frame some of the beautiful shopping bags I have received over the years and frame some outfit photos. I have at least a couple hundred of photos of outfits that I continue to inspire me. My husband is going to come home to a new closet tonight!

Just a few of my favorite closet photos...

Chandos Interiors {Houston}...

After much debate, a list of pros and cons, and 'soul' searching, the hubs and I will be staying in our condo at least until the end of this year. On Sunday we found out a fun face...we were paying almost three times what we should be in property taxes. Making a phone call yesterday resulted in a nice refund. Yay! Being a one income household you get excited about things like that. The hubs and I did some more talking and realized that once we refinance next month plus having our taxes go down that there really is no need to move-besides having more space.

I don't feel like I am finished with this house yet. Getting one more good year in and then putting it up for lease of sale. In the mean time we will be taking little pieces of our house and fixing it up. I have talked about this many times before and in about 3 weeks it will be starting. Trips to Lowe's, paint stores, and Crate and Barrel will be in my future this Summer.

I continually look around for inspiration and I always love to promote local real estate homes and interior design firms. Chandos Interiors is out of Houston, as well, and they are fabulous. Their portfolio is beautiful and gives me so much inspiration. The hubs and I agreed last night that he and I are going to design our home in our taste but give the feel of a hotel. In our area, and in high-rise community, having your place feel luxurious gives you much more opportunity for leasing it at a higher price or selling it with a nice profit. To me, both of those options look nice!

Take a look at some of Chandos Interiors work...
